I was honored to work with the great folks at the Hillsboro Food Co-op in Hillsboro, Oregon to create a dynamic and effective short term owner promotion this summer. The team in Oregon worked hard to put together an effective plan that got results, in fact they blew their goal of 15 owners in 15 days out of the water (19 new owners! Whoo-hoo!). And the great news is, they now understand the ins and outs of a short term promo and are implementing yet another promotion as we speak! Check out their Facebook page here for a real time example. Tips to getting a short term promo right:
- Create a solid partnership with a symbiotic and supportive business or organization (think local coffee shop, farmer, environmental group)
- Provide a meaningful incentive
- Establish a specific start date and end date
- Publish the heck out of your promo using high quality images (see some examples above)
